Carry Me Home to My Self
Startling Dreamscape

These past few days I have been filled with such an angst and dismay regarding the horrific, life threatening tactics of the hired mercenaries of the oil pipeline monster and police. Sunday night early Monday morning I awoke in a cold, wet sweat and tears constantly sliding down my cheeks. In my night/sleep place, one of my spiritual capacities is to do “long-distance” healing and communicating. It isn’t a talent I speak to publicly, but it is one of my spiritual gifts.
In the eighties when I shared a four-year ceremonial healing campaign with Brooke Medicine Eagle, some of trainings connected to WEST MEDICINE, WATER MEDICINE; is that of dream work. As recently as last year while training with Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes in her last offering of her Mysterium trainings reflective of her life’s great expertise on tending the harmed, wounded, especially addressing trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder; Dreamwork was one of her most treasured tools shared.
I pause and am humbled by the depth of cross-cultural dream and symbolic imprints I have explored and earned expertise. Like standing in the shallow melt of an ocean’s wave. Looking out to that distant horizon point where the ocean of sky becomes ONE with the ocean of land, creating the waves that come rolling to the shore. The size of the approaching wave is huge, this awareness of dreams and relevance to this time on Earth.
But back to early Monday morning, soaked with cold sweat, I knew to open up to prayers. Dr. E (her name of choice), Brooke Medicine Eagle, Dr. Peggy Rowe-Ward, Dr. Barbara Knudson-Fields, Venerable Dhyani Ywahoo, and Dr. Angie Arriene, all have been my teachers of the Dream World. Universally it is contended that our Ancestors come through in the early morning hours night place. They share symbols and scenes and remembrance, to aide each of us on our sacred walk. I have heard we are our Ancestors’ prayers. Anything that occurred in their lifetime, especially tragically, dishonoring, discrediting, comes through our DNA and becomes part of our life journey’s script.
When a night messenger, a spirit helper shows up and shares and opens up an awareness, it is our choice to bring the message, the remedy, the tool, the healing to consciousness. When we go into a sleep state, it is called a mini-death. We become unconscious.
As Venerable Dhyani Ywahoo taught me, “We come from the stars and to the stars we shall return”. When one goes to sleep, our spirit family, our light messengers, our angels come and assist our spirit self to return to the stars, the kingdom of light, the sacred garden, home. Here we receive wisdom and encouragement, language, remembrance of our sacred contract, gift of an Earth (physical) body. The light being, sacred spiritual family helpers, gently bring us back to one’s physical body to wake, sometimes with a dream, a recollection.
When we do remember a dream piece or saga, it means we are ready to address the night’s gift and move on. Often times when unable to retrieve the storyline, it is important to reflect on how one is feeling upon waking—tired, energetic, questioning, cold sweats, alert—These are our bodymind’s clues. Healing is revealing of Feelings.
Early Monday morning I went out to pray in my sanctuary garden. I saw a shooting star and registered “An angel just got their wings”. My first thought was my dear friend, Mark Beck, who passed earlier in the week got his wings. Then I heard, “Your prayers are being carried to the source of all light.”
I went inside to check my phone for some kind of message or call for help. I turned on my computer and found 70 urgent calls for help from the Water Protectors at STANDING ROCK. Mercenary goons in below freezing temperatures were trying to kill and maim hundreds of these Protectors using water cannons, rubber bullets, chemical deadly sprays.
The cold sweat and dripping tears startled me into a flashback remembering my childhood to adulthood nightmare. A dream piece I shared with Dr. E and the class just last year. In the dream, a grandmother tells me to go hide, go invisible. I am in a thicket surrounding a meadow. Looking out and seeing and hearing the worst harm imaginable happening to family, clan. Then in the dream I am running, running they’re after me. Cold sweat and dripping tears.
I learned from Dr. E that capacity to observe significant, historic, classic, repeating, scary dreams as a precursor, a forecaster of possible events to occur in one’s life. In her teaching style, after we retrieved the dream piece of great importance and write it down, then in community she chooses one or two people’s dreams to, through example, model how to respect the ancestor imprint and determine how it has become a tool, an advocacy for your life walk. What was the gift of this horrific, repeating nightmare? As I write this I see how Standing Rock Crisis and horrific degradation of human dignity and such harm, triggered my nightmare…it is my nightmare.
How can it be re-seen as one’s gift or strength to be brought/given to the community?
The truth be told, Dr. E shared after hearing my terror dream, that it reflects a common life thread through almost everyone. Everyone of us through our ancestors have experienced, invasion, persecution, oppression, mayhem, death. We are all Native from some Earth location and have a common chapter in our history.
So, I personally pondered my early childhood dream and like dominoes falling in a pattern an overview of my life of being the oppressed, the stalked, the culturally impoverished, the harmed, the scapegoat. Born shortly after WWII to the endless chapters of civil rights for the Blacks, Women’s equality, Viet Nam ERROR, Native American injustices, Children’s rights, erasing the Tibetan culture and lands, Native Peoples injustices all over the planet. I have undauntingly stood up, spoken out, and advocated for the disrespected, the one’s oppressed my “White European Greed” spoof of superiority.
It was a startling revelation that I have and am living out my childhood terror dreams. Cold sweat, silent unstoppable tears woke me last Monday early morning. I have been taught we must get a grip “Earth walk is a waking dream”. Somehow, we are to “snap”out of the hypnotic, induced, cultural stupor that limits one’s capacity to wake up, become conscious. When one wakes up to all that they are and why they were chosen to walk an Earth walk, we are reunited with our divine purpose and original family. The Indigenous People speak to this as the Beauty Way. “Ah, maybe this is one who will walk the good, true and beautiful way for the sake of seven generations back and seven generations to come. Our sacred walk, sometimes called The Good Red Road, is the path of good relations with all the family of light, love and nature.

BEAUTY WAY by Dr. Angie Arriene
“Oh, maybe this is the one who
Will be the one that Brings forward
The good, true and beautiful.
For all the past generations and
The generations to come.
Oh, maybe this is the one
The one that will break the harmful family patterns or
Harmful cultural patterns.
Oh maybe this one will be the ONE.
WE are the ONE
We are the ONE!
Hold on to what is good
even if it is a handful of earth.
Hold on to what is Good
Even if it is a tree
Standing by it’s self.
Hold on to what is Good
even if it is far away from here.
Hold on to our hands
Even if we’ve gone away from each other.
Hold on to what is Good
Hold on to what is Good
Hold on to what is Good. Dr. Angeles Arriene

Wisdom keeper Angeles Arriene shared this universal prayer:

“Let us take care of the youth, our children
For these have a long way to go
Let us take care of the Elders
For they have come a long way
And let us take care of those in between
For they are doing the work.”

Angie Arriene taught that the greatest harm one can do is fail to bring our gift to the community. Once we recognize our special talents and tools, we are never to go unconscious or to become ungrateful. In the great circle of life and light, we are all connected. All the while we are only as strong as our weakest link.

This faith, this prayer become a PROTECTIVE SHIELD blocking negativity, disrespect, projections from piercing one’s soul, our spiritual body that is one with all.
The elders and youth from Standing Rock are asking for PRAYERS. Admonishing that who want to fight to leave. They/we need a cohesive field, a unified peace front projecting a vibration that aligns with our ancestors, with our precious sweet Mother Earth, with our star/light family that pictures, images PEACE, RESPECT, AUTONOMY, WARMTH, HEALING, HEALTHY WATERS, SHELTER, FOOD, RESPECT FOR MOTHER NATURE AND ALL HER FAMILY, LOVE FOR ONE AND ALL.

“The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything.” – Albert Einstein.
