Thank you The International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers

The International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers

I humbly offer a HUGE THANK YOU to each and everyone for generously participating in our Indiegogo Campaign on behalf of the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers. While we cannot personally reach out to you, we wish to give you all a virtual handshake and hug along with loving prayers of good blessings to you in your everyday walk of life.

Your support is helping the Grandmothers meet an immediate need to have funding for the 13th Grandmother’s Gathering being hosted by Unci Rita Long Visitor Holy Dance in Spearfish, SD.

Since October 2004 the Grandmothers have been actively meeting around the world in order to fulfill the common vision of creating a new alliance of prayer, education and healing for our Mother Earth, all her inhabitants, all the children and for the next seven generations to come.

Over the past 10 years the Grandmothers have spent time engaged in the gatherings and will now again through your support will have time to take a few days to share our teachings and ways of ceremony with all who make their presence in Spearfish, SD. This is also an opportunity to savor our success then take steps forward to continue our journey on this sacred path.

The 13th Gathering involves many planning and financial details which require funds for travel, ground transportation, meals for each grandmother and assistant/or translator and possibly a stipend for each grandmother. For instance, our Grandmothers from Mapia, Amazonia Brazil travel by boat for three days, then travel by car to the point of departure to the location of the Grandmother’s Gathering. Communication throughout the world to maintain our connections regarding matters that come before us is also challenging. Some grandmothers have to travel at least 40 miles round trip in order to access internet, using a public computer. Does that stop us? No, but with your help at this time, the effort certainly is made easier.

We also want you to know that our work is not only about the Gatherings. Currently, we are working on projects related to the areas. Here is a short description:

Spiritual Support: At this time, we are being called on to make prayers on behalf of those who are suffering from the atrocities throughout the world, caused by humankind, as well as the natural disasters as a result of climate change. This work is constant, for example, our dear sister Grandmother Aama is calling for prayers and aid for the people of a village in Nepal who recently were devastated by an enormous mudslide.

Education: Youth Ambassadors: As expressed in our Alliance Statement one of our purposes is to come together to nurture, educate and train our children. With in all traditional cultures one important role of the elders is to pass to the future generations their experience, knowledge, values and skills to keep their cultures alive and capable of facing the challenges of an unfolding future. For this purpose the Council has its Youth Ambassadors which come from the communities represented by the thirteen grandmothers. All these Ambassadors have responded positively to the Council’s call affirming their commitment to the purposes expressed in the Council’s Alliance Statement.
The present proposal seeks to bring together for the first time the Youth Ambassadors in order to strengthen and support them to fulfill their role. There is a need to awaken and develop the group identity so that the members can reflect collectively about the global situation and about their own role in the transition of time to a life supporting society. The proposed program will be offered to a maximum of 20 (13-32 years old)

Health and the Environment: Indigenous World Forum on Water & Peace.
The overall theme of the forum will be the integration of water planning with traditional cultural values of Indigenous peoples. With deep understanding of the ways that water is connected to the cultural life-ways of Indigenous peoples, there is a need for a paradigm shift in humanity’s relationship with water.
As we move forward toward the completion of the Indiegogo Campaign, please know that you are forever in our hearts and in our prayers for blessings of LOVE, FAITH HOPE AND CHARITY and most of all PEACE be with you.
In our indigenous ways, we hold our hands up to the good Creator for the blessing of your gift of support.
