Sierra Club Boise Chapter PV/EV Picnic and rally

Save the date for our PV/EV Picnic

When: September 29th from 3-5 p.m.
Where: Idaho Sierra Club parking lot (503 West Franklin Street)

Photovoltaic (PV) solar panels on the roof can power the electric vehicle (EV) in your garage, while saving you money on fuel, reducing carbon emissions and making you energy independent. Come see several different models of electric vehicles (EV), get information about how to charge them up with photovoltaic (PV) rooftop solar, share your PV/EV experiences, and enjoy a Sunday afternoon picnic.

Several Electric Vehicles will be on display. Bring your own EV if you have one. Appetizers and beverages provided. Bring a dish to share if you would like.

Our EV/PV picnic is part of National Plug-in Day, a nationwide celebration to heighten awareness of today’s widespread availability of plug-in vehicles. This will be a great educational opportunity to learn about how the PV/EV approach is a way people here in Idaho can reduce their carbon footprint and make a personal contribution to reducing Climate Change.

Draw the Line

As Bill McKibben said, “we’re living through the biggest thing that’s happened since human civilization emerged.” And to tackle such an enormous issue, we need people power! We invite you to join 350.org and allies across the country to put people power to work again. September 21st is a national day of action against the Keystone XL and tar sands. We will tell President Obama that there is no turning back — to keep his climate promises, he must reject Keystone XL. Likewise, we will tell local leaders that we as Idahoans reject oil companies from using our wild and scenic river corridors to transport colossal megaloads bound for the tar sands. We’re calling it Draw the Line. Lets show that our commitment to defend our communities and stop extreme energy.

The plan:
12pm: Rally on the Capital steps

We will do the event rain or shine! Please be prepared. To create a strong visual, we encourage you to wear a blue shirt to symbolize water. Bring your family, friends, and kids and show your commitment to protect Idaho and the world from climate change. Home brought signs, banners and props are suggested and encouraged!
